Behind-The-Wheel (Individual Training)

 

Teens under 18 are required to drive a minimum of 6 hours with a licensed instructor. This training is conducted in 3 classes of 2 hours each.

 

For the safety reasons, WE DO NOT DO GROUP TRAINING. Only one student in the training car. You can choose a female or male instructor. All of our training cars carry $500,000 insurance coverage, which is much more than the DMV requirement.        

 

The price for the 6 hours training is from $235* to $250.00*. This price includes enrollment certificate OL392, completion certificate OL238, and pick-up and drop-off at home in San Diego area for FREE**.

 

*Students who have finished our driver's ed course get $15.00 discount, so they pay only $235.00 for 6 hours.

 

To get enrollment certificate OL392 you need to pay $60.00 or $45.00*. The balance of $190.00 will be paid during the first behind the wheel lesson.

 

**We serve San Diego City, El Cajon, La Mesa, Santee, Spring Valley, Chula Vista, Lemon Grove. If you are out of our area, you will need to come to our office in San Diego to get the 6 hours training. We may charge extra fee for home pick up in the area that is further than 10 miles from our office.

 

In order to obtain behind-the-wheel enrollment certificate OL392, you need to make a payment. You need to have a Credit Card to make the payment. Certificate will be mailed to you within 24 hours.

DMV Note

 

Your teenager must complete six hours of actual behind-the-wheel (controlling the vehicle) training that does not exceed two hours per day. Observation time does not count toward the six hours of required training time.

Marcia Charfaroures. Instructor's ID 3048-035. Teaching since 2007. Previously worked at East County Driving School.

Walter Cyz. Instructor's ID 3048-010. Teaching since 1985. Classroom Driver ed teacher at Francis Parker High School. He graduated from SDSU.

Don Ko. Instructor's ID 3048-002. Teaching since 1993. Don has completed DMV Testing Examiner Training in 1996.

Joey Tabilin. Instructor's ID 3048-030. Teaching since 2005. In addition to San Diego, he works in East County and South Bay.

Stan Szumilas. Instructor's ID 3048-032. Teaching since 2005.  UCSD student.  Stan is fluent in Spanish and English.

Charlotte Owens. Instructor's ID 3048-029. Teaching since 2002. School bus driver and instructor.

Sharon McCoy Instructor's ID 3048-003. Teaching since 1995. Previously worked as a school bus driver in Vista.

Greg Haberman Instructor's ID 3048-018. Teaching since 1990.   Driving School Owner And Operator.  He graduated from SDSU.  He has completed Insurance Agent-Broker course at Mike Ross Academy.

All our instructors have finished 60 hour instructor training required by the DMV. We use insured and inspected cars.

  About The Training

 

During our course, students will learn the basic driving skills necessary to operate a motor vehicle safely. Upon completion, the driving instructor will issue a certificate as required by the DMV. The training covers:

  • Driving in Residential Area,

  • Driving in the Traffic,

  • Freeway Driving,

  • Defensive driving,

  • Hill Parking,

  • Practice test.
